JUST LIKE A GLASS BOWL - Radiation from the sun would be reflected out into space, but with more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere some radiated heat is absorbed and re-emitted back to earth just as if we lived in a greenhouse.

By far the biggest contributor to global warming after water vapour, is Carbon Dioxide. We cannot do much about water vapour where around 71% of the Earth's surface is water. But, the rate of evaporation is dependent on temperature, hence the other gases that contribute to the glass bubble we live in are very important.

The major greenhouse gases are water vapour, which causes about 36–70% of the greenhouse effect; carbon dioxide (CO2), which causes 9–26%; methane (CH4), which causes 4–9%; and ozone (O3), which causes 3–7%. Nitrous oxide accounts for around 5% of GHGs.

Frog syndrome, boiling to death instead of taking action

We must force CO2 reduction on our climate criminals. They will not reduce them voluntarily, as COP26 illustrates, China, USA, India and Australia would not agree to stop burning coal and oil, despite knowing that they are killing people and destroying the planet. They are thus the New Nazis to be dug out and tried for crimes against humanity.

You voted them into power and created the financial markets and corporations that made this happen.

THE CAUSES IN SECTORS - Transportation and energy for living are the main causes of greenhouse gas build up in the atmosphere as carbon dioxide and nitrous oxides, with agriculture loading us with methane and more nitrous oxides. Hence, we need to revise our eating habits and switch to renewable energy for our cars and industry as quickly as possible.

The greenhouse effect is the process by which absorption and emission of infrared radiation by gases in a planet's atmosphere, warm its lower atmosphere and surface, to include warming the oceans and melting the ice caps.

Into this equation, we should mention black carbon or soot, as solid particles from incomplete combustion, where such particles absorb heat, especially when on snow or ice, accelerating melting.

TREES FOR HUMAN BREATHING - On average, one tree produces nearly 260 pounds of oxygen each year or 118 kilograms. A human breathes about 9.5 tonnes of air in a year, about 23 percent of that is oxygen, by mass. We extract a little over a third of the oxygen from each breath. That works out to a total of about 740kg of oxygen per year. Which is, very roughly, six or seven trees’ worth.

A mature sycamore tree might be around 12m tall and weigh two tonnes, including the roots and leaves. If it grows by five per cent each year, it will produce around 100kg of wood, of which 38kg will be carbon. Allowing for the relative molecular weights of oxygen and carbon, this equates to 100kg of oxygen per tree per year.
