BEING GREEN

FARMING - Growing food and making hay are green enterprises, trees produce oxygen and soak up carbon dioxide, hence are our very 'green' friends in the fight against climate change. This is a scene in Sussex just outside the village of Herstmonceux. Copyright picture © Climate Change Trust 2017. Developers want to build executive houses on this greenbelt for landlord renting, despite surface water issues and the poisoning of the oldest working well in this location. Hardly green. There is a lack of genuinely affordable housing in England, that we say should be net zero, hence built of wood from sustainably managed forests, and generate at least some electricity on site.
Green is no longer just a color.
Being "Green" is a term to describe anything or anyone who thinks in terms of saving or conserving the environment. It's now the symbol of ecology and a verb. Also, a way of life.
Hence, we have the Green Party in politics. Hooray! Unfortunately, where most big businesses are not green, the Green Party (in the UK) is under-funded. Because they will not accept donations from oil and coal companies (for example).
Green-washing is where an organisation, business or individual person employs climate or environmental speak to make themselves appear environmentally friendly in global warming terms.

THE COLOUR GREEN
Most prominently found in nature, the color green embodies rich foliage, lush greenery, and vast landscapes. This earthy hue is commonly associated with Mother Earth, which is why it’s thought to be calming and ubiquitous. Offering relaxation, green soothes with its gentle and peaceful undertones. Green squelches chaos, making it a force to be reckoned with.
You won't find many green cars at racetracks because they are considered unlucky, except for British Racing Green.
Circus and traveling showmen in Australia may consider green to be bad luck. An old English rhyme about wedding colors: "Married in green, Ashamed to be seen."
LUNG CANCER - Fumes and particulates from car exhausts kills us slowly when we burn it and release carcinogens into the atmosphere to create smogs. They are not green in the sense of being green or healthy. Though, automotive OEMs have been greenwashing their cars and trucks for years.

WE LIVE IN A SPHERICAL GREENHOUSE - Radiation from the sun would be reflected out into space, but with more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere some radiated heat is absorbed and re-emitted back to earth just as if we lived in a greenhouse.
